My grandson Arthur was born at 28 weeks weighing 990gms. On the 29th Feb 2024 Em and Bry became 1st time parents to the sweetest baby boy. The excitement of becoming grandparents, was abruptly replaced with worry for our grandchild and his parents due to his premature birth. Visiting the NICU is a privilege but extremely daunting due to the tubes, incubators, screens and alarms all tracking and monitoring bub. The whole experience is overwhelming and highly emotional for all. The NICU becomes a second home to many families with nursing staff supporting both baby and parents.
Arthurs spent 3 months in the NICU.
In Australia, every hour 6 babies are born prematurely or critically ill. Sadly, each year 1000 babies will lose their fight.
