Fundraising - how does it work.....

Fundraising for Miracle Babies Foundation is a powerful way to support families during one of the most challenging times of their lives. Each year, thousands of babies are born premature or seriously ill, requiring specialised care and long hospital stays. Without the support of organisations like Miracle Babies Foundation, some families simply do not cope. With no regular government funding, your support will help to provide much needed services to more families across Australia. At Miracle Babies, we believe that no miracle and their family should have to go through this alone.

To take part, Miracle Moon Walk participants are encouraged to aim for a minimum fundraising target of $150, and it’s easier to reach than you might think.

Start by locating your personal fundraising page - simply click on “Find a Walker” and search your name or log in and head to “My Fundraising” to copy your unique URL.
Sharing this link across emails, social media, and messages is one of the quickest ways to build momentum. Highlighting the impact can also inspire generosity - for example, $147 can provide a family with full support throughout their hospital journey, which can motivate meaningful donations from your network.

This year we are introducing new Fundraising Tiers designed to help motivate your supporters to donate while celebrating your progress along the way. As you reach each milestone, you’ll not only see the impact you’re making grow, but you’ll also unlock opportunities to win prizes as a reward for your efforts. These tiers add an extra layer of fun and recognition to your fundraising journey, giving you and your supporters something to aim for while making a difference.

While everyone is encouraged to make their best effort to reach the minimum target, support and guidance will be available throughout the process. It’s also understood that circumstances differ, so if you fall slightly short, you won’t be required to cover the gap yourself.

To boost your fundraising success, make sure your personalised page is fully set up and reflects your story. Adding a photo creates a personal connection with potential donors. You can also kickstart your progress by making the first donation yourself, as this often encourages others to follow. Finally, consider inviting friends and family to join you or form a team. Sharing the experience not only makes it more enjoyable but can significantly expand your reach - just send them your page link so they can sign up and support your efforts together.

More fundraising help

Successful fundraising on social is really simple. Most importantly the cause resonates with every parent and grandparent and it typically takes less than 10 donations to reach your minimum fundraising target.

To help you on your way we provide a range of support resources including:

- Share information about 'where the money goes' below with your supporters
- Share your personal story if you have one and a photo on your personal Fundraising Page, then share this via social, email etc.
- Follow the dedicated Miracle Moon Walk Facebook and Instagram pages with plenty of great content for you to quickly share (search @miraclemoonwalk) - so keep your eyes on these pages and SHARE, SHARE SHARE!
- Get creative! Create challenges for your friends and family, BYO donation at your next BBQ, ask schools and workplaces to sponsor you and more. You can simply 'donate' any money raised in person via your personal fundraising page!

All funds raised go directly to Miracle Babies Foundation and are fully tax deductible. As Australia’s leading not-for-profit supporting premature and sick newborns, their families, and the hospitals that care for them, the foundation uses these funds to provide essential services and resources. It costs just $147 to deliver full support to one family during their hospital stay, covering support teams, supplies, operational costs, and vital resources.

$68 supports a grieving family: Miracle Babies provides special Memory Boxes, to provide solace to families after the loss of a baby due prematurity or sickness at birth. These special Memory Boxes are provided to families most often via the hospital.
$81 supports a family during an unexpected hospital admission: If mother's condition worsens or something unexpected goes wrong during pregnancy, they may be immediately admitted. Many are also transferred a distance away from home, to a hospital with a NICU (some even hours away from their family). Miracle Babies provides support, along with our Emergency Care Pack, for some needed comfort and relief during this time.
$147 provides support to one family during their journey in hospital: peer, emotional support is provided to families in the NICU or Special Care Nursery by Miracle Babies Support Team members (this is our NurtureTime service). Families are also provided support through additional support services such as the 24/7 NurtureLine and in-hospital resource packs.
$475 supports a family through their six months after discharge (at home): includes our NurtureGroup (after discharge play and support group), along with other ongoing support services and resources.
$908 supports a family through their entire journey (in hospital and at home for their first year)

Through vital services including the comprehensive NurtureProgram, Miracle Babies provides emotional support to families to help them cope through their journey in hospital and beyond.
